This landscape is taken while standing next to the south parapet (the one facing the temple) and looking west-by-southwest. It is difficult to photograph the beautiful mountainscapes of the Beijing area, because Beijing itself sits in a plain between the mountains. The air is usually clean and not smoggy, but there is a lot of humidity most days. I'm told that they also have thermal inversions like the ones in Los Angeles, causing smog to be a problem on certain days.
