This is a photo from the state-run plant that produces cultured freshwater pearls. This is the only picture from that part of the tour, because, frankly, it was mostly a shopping opportunity and a fairly contrived one at that. It was kind of interesting to learn that the oysters can be age-estimated by ridges on their shells and that a typical specimen in the culture beds can have around 20-25 pearls inside. There were several shopping stops on the tour, proving that tourism works the same in Eastern countries as it does in the West: milk 'em till they bleed. Moooooo.
